Phrasings is a composition based in 4 parts with the doubling of everything. The double makes 8. The composition explores difference in sameness by playing the same four scales on two different instruments.

Differences become acoustics, time, space, texture, rhythmic pattern, etc.

Phrasings will take place as a durational concert at Mission Gathering Church in Pasadena, CA. Slowski will play four keys on a Baldwin baby grand piano and the same four keys on a Ken Simpson & Company pipe organ with Squash & Biscuit accompanying on electronics. This electro-acoustic performance explores listening, resonance, rhythm, and call & response—a conversation that doubles as vibration.
